This is a podcast with Hugo de Vries, drawing on a report he wrote for the Clingendael Institute that was published recently. We discuss the constraints facing the efforts to bring peace to the eastern Congo through various stabilization initiatives.
Hugo worked for MONUSCO’s Stabilization Support Unit in Bukavu and Goma,
eastern Congo, between 2010 and 2014, coordinating programmes with the government and
international partners, and revising the I4S. He is currently a consultant for the World Bank’s
Fragility, Conflict and Violence Group (FCVG), based in Nairobi. The views expressed in this
podcast are his own.
